It was an incredible experience coming together to learn the Sabre set in Edmonton, Canada. There was an air of excitement and anticipation as 74 of us arrived. For most this would be the first time we would learn this set so we were beginners again, nervous yet eager. We learned that the connection comes from the foot like in the dan-yus, and the importance of being grounded and balanced. We used the dan-yu to lift the sabre instead of using the muscle in the arms and shoulders.
There were lots of smiles and laughter as we experienced throwing the sabre (figuratively) and imagined winding up the sabre like a lasso up over our head and releasing like a whip. At the end of the day we felt totally relaxed and our minds were calm.
