The Dragon's Head Blog: Growing through the pandemic

My experience these past nine months has been of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual growth.

On March 13th we were confined. I have a 12-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl with special needs, quite an experience. I would get up at 6 in the morning to practice Tai Chi. It was my moment of peace, until the children discovered it and I adapted to share my moment of peace with them (hahaha). My daughter would smile at me when she considered that I was forgetting to smile while practicing, or she would touch me where I had put tension. Beautiful memories…

Summer came and my practice relaxed, it was limited to the chanting sessions, which became my moment of peace.

In September I returned to my daily practice. There were difficult moments since my life is like a roller coaster. When I saw that the problems had an impact on my relationship with my children, I increased my dose of Tai Chi to be able to return to my center.

On November 23rd, I realized that I no longer needed to do extra Tai Chi, that with my daily practice I could stay in my center, sustain myself and others.

In November I also became aware that I was capable of being in the present. I practice it with the chanting and with my daily practice. I have seen the results when my daughter has a fit. I am present, calm, without giving her any indication and my daughter is recovering better.

Since the chanting sessions began I think that I have missed them only once, and it was due to technical problems. Thanks to the chanting I have been able to carry on these months joyfully, positively. They have been my food to grow during these nine months.

I am very grateful to the Taoist Tai Chi Society for helping me grow. Thanks to all the members and participants for being there.
