The Dragon's Head Blog: Lion Helps Celebrate 40 Years at Niagara

The Niagara Branch celebrated their 40th Anniversary with an Open House and Program at the Horseshoe Centre in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, on Saturday June 23rd, 2018. The day started with chanting to mark 20 years since the passing of Master Moy Lin Shin.

Fung Loy Kok Institute of Taoism director John Huang, our instructor for the day led a discussion of the importance of our jongs and the activation of our meridians through Taoist Tai Chi® arts.  We learned more about the don-yu and tor-yu and had the opportunity to practice in small groups to better understand these foundations.
Several dignitaries and guests arrived for the lunchtime festivities.  MP Rob Nicholson and MP Chris Bittle woke up the sleeping lion and the lively dance to the beat of drums entertained all. The dignitaries had many congratulatory remarks. There was also a brief history of our organisation and the Niagara Branch followed by a moving testimonial from Bea Smith, a continuing instructor from Niagara Branch who has been practicing for the last 38 of her 92 years.
After lunch we continued in small group style before enjoying a delicious catered dinner.  The anniversary was a wonderful opportunity to learn more about Master Moy’s teachings and grow in our understanding of the Taoist arts.
