The Dragon's Head Blog: Connecting with Communities — Awareness Day in Costa Rica

When sharing the Taoist Tai Chi® arts, there are many ways in which we can give others the opportunity to find this path of mind-body transformation.

In Costa Rica we had the chance of doing so on August 27th, celebrating Awareness Day during a morning filled with positive attitude. Sharing the joy of practicing together, we hopped on a small bus that would take us to four different communities.

Every community was a chance to talk with more people passing by who were interested in the tai chi demonstration, so we could let them know about the arts, the benefits, the training and more information about our locations.

We also approached the local businesses and explained a bit more of who we are and what we do.  This way we had the chance to leave some leaflets so they could share them with their customers.

We are happy that through this event each year and through other demos as well, we are building a stronger presence of the Society in these communities, building trust, knowledge and a sense of caring for others; we make ourselves available and connect with people who want to explore a different form of practice, that goes beyond the physical body.

When we got back to the club, together we set the tables and sat down to enjoy a delicious homemade meal prepared by one of our members. What a great way to enjoy our training.

This day provided us the opportunity to make the connection possible with the communities and with ourselves, as we worked together, reflected in our commitment and – very importantly – kept ourselves enjoying the Taoist Tai Chi® arts.
