The Dragon's Head Blog: Times that require change… Tiempos que exigen cambiar…

„Let’s not pretend that things change, if we always do the same …” These wise words that I read many years ago, I am understanding better in this surprising time of pandemic.

The great medicine that I have had to incorporate with greater discipline into my new life routine are the Taoist Tai Chi® Arts, meditation and chanting. These I experience mainly with participants of the Fung Loy Kok Taoist Tai Chi Association in Costa Rica, but connected to the International family.

The first month was difficult; it was difficult for me to do the first 17 movements of the set, which surprised me a lot because I had already been practicing Tai Chi for more than three years. I had to admit that the new situation had instilled in me a good dose of anxiety and frustration, that the body would not let me hide. So I began to meditate daily and to surprise, my body responded quickly and naturally in such a way that I began to do the set without great difficulties. I incorporated foundation movements, especially don yus and tor yus and little by little I felt very positive changes on a physical, emotional and mental level.

I have been feeling more joy and optimism when doing the movements of Taoist Tai Chi® Arts and I have “improved”, without intensity of effort. Several movements that have challenged me a lot for these first three years:  separations, kicking with right and left feet, snakes and turn around to sweep lotus!

I am delighted to feel that something very positive and profound has been changing within me, which has also manifested itself in the improvement of my relationship with other family members, friends and acquaintances.

It seems that periods of crisis offer a good mirror that can allow us to take that leap, to be better human beings and on that journey I am deeply grateful to have the Taoist Tai Chi ® Arts that have become great allies.

Also enriching is the opportunity that we are given every Saturday to share the Chanting for the World and to receive that “rain of wisdom” through the comments shared at the end of the chanting.

Thanks to the Fung Loy Kok Board for the effort of so many years, thanks to Master Moy for the hard work and patience in leaving us such an invaluable legacy.
