The Dragon's Head Blog: Telling our International Centre stories

Participants of Fung Loy Kok Taoist Tai Chi®  arts are invited to consider what our expansion of the International Centre a decade ago has meant to them.

Fung Loy Kok Institute of Taoism is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Grand Opening of the Three Religions Temple at the International Centre on August 3, and is inviting participants to send their personal stories and contemplations of the Three Religions Temple, The Hall of the Original Constellations (Dao Mo), the Memorial Hall, the Quiet Cultivation Centre practice hall, and the Meditation Suites.

How has the expansion of the International Centre contributed to your practice, what experiences have you had there, and what have you learned?

The Centre, which is „the Mountain” that our founder Master Moy Lin Shin instructed us to look for,  has expanded along with the growth of our organisation. Hundreds of people from countries around the world where we practice these teachings visit each year to deepen their understanding and training, and members of the public call in to soak up the beautiful surroundings and gain an introduction to our tradition.

The Centre’s temples are a beacon of contemplation, calm and quietness – a reminder of the qualities we need to improve our health, and a place to deepen our understanding of the qualities of the Three Religions which can support us in the trials of hectic daily lives. Practising the Three Religions of Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism is the foundation of Fung Loy Kok Institute of Taoism’s objective to deliver all from suffering, both the living and the dead, through community service, rituals and ceremonies, and the cultivation of body and mind.

The $13 million cost of the 450 square metre temple complex was financed solely by individuals of many faiths and of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds in the 25 countries around the world where Fung Loy Kok Taoist Tai Chi® practice is active, and is a concrete reminder of what can be achieved when people work together with good hearts – as we were taught to do by Master Moy.

Please send your stories and reflections to blog@taoist.org. They may be used on the Tiger’s Mouth blog and in other publicity and promotional material.
