The Dragon's Head Blog: Patience at National Program in Winnipeg, Canada

IMG_2062 IMG_2056On the weekend of April 9 and 10, 49 participants gathered in Winnipeg for a national program led by Joé Thibault. Joé worked with us to deepen our understanding of the meditative aspects of Taoist Tai Chi® arts. She taught us that proper form is important for internal movement and that this structure can help us relax, allowing for inner stillness and bringing the art inside our bodies.

As we worked on our danyus and toryus, she gently reminded us that we have not been doing the moves wrong. Rather, we are enhancing our understanding, discovering things along our path to transformation. Joé left us with a confidence that improvements to our tai chi will come and if you just be quiet, and listen to your body, it will tell you what to do. She reinforced that we should be patient, as the circle of learning is never complete and that a big part of this ancient practice is just that:  patience, attitude, balance and softness.
