The Dragon's Head Blog: Snow Shoveling Party in Portland, Oregon

A sudden and unexpected snowstorm of historic proportions hit Portland, Oregon the night of 1/10/17, immobilizing the city and closing the branch for 2 days.  On Friday the branch issued an invitation to a snow shoveling party to clear the sidewalks and the parking lot.  People showed up with shovels (including a spiffy wheeled version) and more shovels were borrowed from neighboring businesses. While the crew was working others began arriving for the first post-storm class and after doing some tai chi many of them took turns helping the original crew.  Pizza was ordered and an amazing amount of work was done.  Participants who were able to traverse the still icy and challenging roads found a cleared parking lot when they arrived for weekend classes.
