The Dragon's Head Blog: Training in the Kitchen – Part One

This is meditation …

Being in the kitchen gives you the chance to stop the busy thinking and go into the moment.

You need to be aware – keeping yourself open and focused at the same time.

After ten days, you start to become a little bit of everyone else, not being so much in yourself … letting go of your ego and moving with the energy of everyone. We are becoming one.

I often say that everything we do in the kitchen is related to our tai chi practice. When we do our tai chi it is moving meditation.  When you are in the kitchen you need to physically use your spine to get everything going and not muscle it up. It’s not about you, it’s about following directions, trusting, and not allowing your past experience or background to interfere.
