Friday, May 27 — There is already a hustle and bustle at the HofAcker center, where we will be holding the workshop in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. The food is being brought, the kitchen set up, some tea is made for the arriving guests, a soup is prepared and the hall decorated. Everyone helps and contributes to make our second workshop in Schaffhausen a success. Full of expectation and anticipation, we prepare everything, happy to welcome our guests. The first workshop guests arrive. The welcoming and seeing each other again is great and we hear many times: “Oh, hello, happy you could come, welcome”.

DSC00416_DemoAt 6 pm we meet for a public demonstration in the old town and pedestrian zone. With many flyers distributed to interested persons we believe this was a good choice. The atmosphere and the sunshine are part of it and give this event a nice touch. Many passersby follow our demonstration with great interest.

Back at the workshop venue we finalize this first welcoming day with a nice soup and good discussions.

Saturday, May 28 — At 10 am the workshop officially begins under the direction of Paul Davies. He creates a good learning environment through his quiet and clear way. With lots of humor, patience, philosophical stories and clear instructions, he allows us to explore the tai chi movements in a deeper way. Images are also used to help us understand the instructions. After a delicious lunch, our annual general meeting takes place.DSC00544_TC_Set

Our concentrated work, interspersed with humorous stories from Paul’s own beginnings in Taoist Tai Chi (beginners are similar anywhere in the world), make the workshop nicely balanced. Being centered and balance are of course also among the topics of the day. Both physically and mentally, Paul knows how to motivate us not to lose courage and to keep learning and practicing.

DSC00577_chantingSunday, May 29 — After a chanting session, the workshop starts again at 10 am. All together again, we listen to the instructions and observe carefully toryus and ward off monkeys. Calmness, concentration and soundless movements follow until lunchtime where we can hear the participants talking and laughing.

Paul also spoke about the Fenway project, our new international center in Dunedin, Florida, that is being renovated. This makes us feel like travelling there one day.DSC00511_Meal

We had wonderful days practicing Taoist Tai Chi™ arts with a great instructor and interesting people (82) from 11 different countries.

Thank you to all who came and thanks to all who helped make this workshop such a smooth and unique event.
